How to Use a Sheet Mask for Breakouts
October 8, 2026
If you wear a face mask every day, you probably know the feeling when you finally take it off: skin that is warm, a little red, and sometimes dotted with breakouts. People call it mask-ne, and it is exactly why The Aftermask exists.
Step 1: Start with a clean face
We always recommend cleaning your face before using The Aftermask to remove any dirt or toxins on the skin. It is totally up to you, but a clean face lets the serum do its job.
Step 2: Open the mask and place it
A sheet mask is a face shaped sheet of fabric packed in a serum. The Aftermask is made on Tencel and is designed to cover the part of your face that is most irritated by the face mask you wear every day. Smooth it over the area so it sits flat against your skin.
Step 3: Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes
We recommend 20 to 30 minutes for best results. A sheet mask works as an occlusive, a physical barrier that seals your skin with the serum ingredients, so give it time. Sit back, put your phone down, and relax.
Step 4: Remove it and use it only once
The Aftermask is a one time use product and should not be used more than once. After you remove it, you can gently pat any leftover serum into your skin.
A note on how often
The Aftermask is meant to relieve skin irritations that come from wearing your face mask. The ingredients are there to calm and cleanse the skin, but it is not designed to replace a daily cleanser. You know your skin best, so use it as you see fit for your skin type.
